Our Story

BeFriend Yoga was created with a simple intention: to offer yoga that is accessible, sustainable, and rooted in genuine community.
Many of us—including our instructors—understand what it means to live in changing bodies and navigate life’s challenges with care and resilience. We know firsthand that yoga is more than exercise. It can support strength and mobility, steady the nervous system, foster connection, and help us meet ourselves with greater compassion.
From the beginning, BeFriend Yoga has been committed to creating an inviting, encouraging, and inclusive space where students can practice in ways that honor their individual needs and experiences. We intentionally maintain small class sizes so each person can receive thoughtful support and feel truly welcomed.
BeFriend Yoga was founded by Melissa and David, who first began teaching together in 2018 through classes, workshops, and trainings in the Tucson yoga community. After the closure of their former studio in 2024, they partnered with Northwest Medical Massage to create a new home for BeFriend Yoga. The calm, welcoming Community Space there continues to provide the perfect environment for practice, connection, and care.
As BeFriend continues to evolve, its heart remains the same. In mid-2026, leadership transitioned to Pam Wilson (Ronstadt) of Radiant Spirit School of Yoga, Melissa’s longtime teacher trainer and a respected presence in the Tucson yoga community for decades. Pam’s approach integrates yoga, meditation, and somatic awareness, supporting students in cultivating a compassionate and connected relationship with themselves.
While Melissa is relocating to be closer to family, she remains an important part of the BeFriend story. David continues to teach and support the community he helped create, alongside Pam and the BeFriend teaching team. Together, we remain committed to cultivating a welcoming space where people can move, breathe, connect, and belong.
Join us to BeFriend your body, your practice, and each other.
